I’ve been thinking of habits that can influence how you eat and how much you eat.

The first one is eating without thinking. There are so many times I’ll be on the phone, or working on some paperwork, and I’ll start munching on chips or candy. It seems that I don’t even notice what I’m doing till I’m looking at the empty wrapper, lol. I just realized that I wouldn’t sit around and belch in public without thinking of what I was doing, so why not consciously watch what I eat from now on?
The next is emotional eating, although that may also be tied into eating without thinking. If I’m bored at work, I may get up and wander away from my desk. Next thing I know, I’m putting a dollar in the vending machine and watching the bag of chips fall. I need to find something else to do with my breaks instead of snacking.

The last is adding more calories by drinking sodas. I need to make myself more conscious of the sugar and calorie count in each carbonated beverage. Not only make myself more conscious, I need to find out how much sugar is in a can of soda and MEMORIZE it. That way, if I want a soda, I’ll be making a conscious decision to drink it, instead of being ignorant of the calorie consequences.
