A brief review of the Atkins site
Well, I’m trying to find one thing that I agree with them about. First, they say to limit carbohydrates, including whole grain foods. But I think that grains can be very beneficial to weight loss. They also say to limit legumes, but I think legumes, if prepared properly, are a good source of carbs and proteins.
At least I agree with them when they say to limit vegetable and seed oils, cheese and dairy. So there’s one thing we can agree on.
The site does have some good recipes, but once again, they’re trying to encourage weight loss by the ingestion of bizarre chemicals. Personally, I think a spoon full of plain old sugar is better than any artificial sweetener. Don’t get me wrong, I think both should be avoided, but a lot of people are deceived into thinking that artificial sweeteners are safe, no matter what. And I think there’s enough information out there to disprove that.
