Some scientists are claiming that the results of their new study shows that engaging in high levels of exercise over the long haul will result in the best results of losing weight and keeping it off. However, they acknowledge that only 13 of the 154 people who completed the study were able to sustain the level of activity needed to burn 2,500 calories per week (equivalent to a 75-minute walk daily.)

Personally, I think that’s one of the reasons why so many fail at exercise programs. They start off with the best intentions but they try to do too much too soon. As a result, they burn out and end up quitting any exercise program before they see any sustainable results. What is needed, in my opinion, is a study of people that started off exercising at a slow pace then built into this kind of high level exercise.
