If you have acid reflux

Posted by Admin :: Aug 22'nd

I haven’t had an episode of reflux for a long time, but it came back full force today. Partially because I ate right before lying down for a nap, but I feel its also because I haven’t taken any acidophilus caps for a long time.

My acid reflux/GERD used to be rather severe, but I thought it was completely tamed with the acidophilus. I guess this means I should keep taking something if it works, or at least I should always have a supply on hand. Right now, I have nothing to treat my stomach and I doubt I’ll be able to lie down again for several hours. I guess I should always remember to be prepared, but since I didn’t keep stuff on hand, I hope someone can learn from my boo-boo.

Would you buy vitamins on ebay?

Posted by Admin :: Jul 20'th

I was looking around at various items for sale, and I found a seller selling brand name supplements. Right now, their listings include Milk Thistle, Cayenne and Ginko. Each bottle, including shipping, is listed at a price that’s far lower than store prices.

Everything looks like its factory sealed, but I can’t help but wonder where they got the vitamins, and why they’re selling them. I have to admit that in the back of my mind, I can’t help but wonder how they acquired the supplements, and why they decided to list them at auction.

Taking fish oil?

Posted by Admin :: Jun 28'th

I was just reading an article at Prevention that has hints about taking fish oil capsules. It’s a good, short read, and it inspired me to share my own fish oil hint:

I take fish oil every day, but it never makes me burp. That’s because I take it in the middle of a snack, instead of before or after. For example, I’ll decide to eat an orange, so I eat half of it, take the oily pills, then finish the orange. This also works for me for taking other oils like garlic and flax oils, but your mileage may vary.

Vitamin E may prevent asthma in babies

Posted by Admin :: Mar 22'nd

According to a five year study at the University of Aberdeen, the amount of vitamin E consumed by expectant mothers could help to determine whether or not their child develop asthma by the age of five. Indications show that if the mother consumed low levels of E, then their children are more likely to develop wheezing and asthma.

If you are planning a baby, you may want to read the study and decide whether or not to increase the level of vitamin E in your diet. Some good sources of E include wheat germ, nuts, sunflower seeds and some vegetable oils.

Shopping for supplements

I spent quite a bit of time researching andrographis, and wanted to add it to the supplements I take. However, I didn’t need to place another vitamin order with my regular online retailer, so I decided to try to find it locally.

I checked the big chain vitamin stores, but no luck. So I called  Nature’s Health Shoppe in Chandler. The young lady that answered the phone was very helpful, informative and even gave me complete directions. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the supplement cost less than what I found online.

I came home and looked at their site. They offer a free catalog, and it looks like they ship nationwide. I’m not getting paid to write this, I just think they’re a great business and that terrific merchants deserve recognition.

If you live in the greater Phoenix area, they’re also having a Customer Appreciation Sale sometime this month, you may want to contact them for details.

Great resource about Natural Health

Posted by Admin :: Mar 8'th

Last night, I spent hours trying to research information on Andrographis. I wish I would’ve found this site earlier because it would’ve saved me so much time. Natural Medicine has a wealth of information available, including vaccination reactions, supplements and vitamins.

Speaking of andrographis, there is a lot of information showing that it helps with immune function. I picked some up last night and I plan on reporting it’s results in later posts.

Digestive Enzymes

Okay, I took them for a month, and you know what? They seemed to really help my acid reflux. It’s actually almost miraculous, because they worked so well. I wonder if it’s time to test them with some pineapple juice? :-o

Seriously, I think instead of eating pineapple, I’d do better to walk on a bed of hot coals. I’ll keep testing the waters bit by bit and I’ll work up to pineapple one of these days (or years). :-)
