“Cancer Killer Found In Ocean — Biotechnologists Treat Cancer With Ocean Bacteria”

Posted by Admin :: Mar 15'th

From ScienceDaily — “Biomedicine scientists identified and sequenced the genes of a bacteria called Salinispora tropica. It produces anti-cancer compounds and can be found in ocean sediments off the Bahamas. A product called salinosporamide A has shown promise treating a bone marrow cancer called multiple myeloma, as well as solid tumors.”

To me, this is very interesting news, and I hope to hear more of this as a viable treatment for cancer.

Am I too picky?

Posted by Admin :: Mar 1'st

I have spent countless hours, trying to find a new theme for this blog. I don’t like this one, but I’m going to leave it up for now, at least till I find something better. Strange thing is, I really miss the butterfly I used to have, but I also feel like its time for a change.

Why I’ll NEVER order a wedge of lemon for my tea AGAIN

Posted by Admin :: Feb 27'th

I love iced tea, and its my beverage of choice when eating out. I usually get it with a slice of lemon, but I’ll drink it straight from now on. A recent study shows that there is some form of contamination on over sixty percent of all lemon slices in restaurants, including fecal contamination. This video shows the gruesome details, and I have to admit that my stomach is still flopping over the thought of drinking all those germs.

BLECH!

Workout while sitting at your desk or couch

Posted by Admin :: Feb 25'th

I found this series at CNN, and while they say it’s “exercise for couch potatoes“, I think they’re relevant to just about everyone and could even be an integral part of your exercise routine if you’re mobility challenged. Start with the stretches on the first tab, then watch the other short videos for other ways to exercise without having to go to a gym.

I have to make a big decision about this blog

Posted by Admin :: Feb 22'nd

When I bought this domain eons ago, I was going to chronicle my weight loss journey. I got side-tracked a bit, but I’m back on the wagon. While I was “detoured” I monetized this part of the site, while also trying to provide helpful information to visitors.

So, for now, I am back posting my main entries on the main page of Sane Fitness, but I also want to try to figure out how to keep this page going? Maybe I should just archive it, and continue? I dunno, I just know I really REALLY like the new theme on my home page, but I’m also attached to the butterfly on this page.

Is there an echo in here?

Posted by Admin :: Jan 18'th

When I first bought this domain name, I had plans of using it to chronicle my weight loss activities and practices. Well, I kind of took this blog off on a tangent, but I’m trying to bring it all back on track. I can’t decide whether to use my main page, www.SaneFitness.com , or this subdomain blog page. I am doing my best not to duplicate content on both pages, so please bear with me while I try to decide where I want to post everything.

Licorice may aid digestion for both humans and dogs.

Posted by Admin :: Jan 15'th

I’ve been a fan of black licorice (or liquorice) for awhile, and I have to admit that its usually not safe in my vicinity. I haven’t bought any for awhile because it is just too tempting for me. I know that regular licorice should be consumed on a limited basis, but there’s a supplement named  deglycyrrhizinated (DGL) licorice that  is a nutraceutical extract of licorice. I found out that DGL licorice does wonders for digestion for dogs as well as humans. I bought a bottle of the wafers and have been taking them and giving them to my dog as well. She has a tendency to get an upset stomach very easily, but so far, both she and I are doing great. While I can’t exactly speak for her, I know that I do feel better when I take the DGL licorice. I just wish it tasted more like allsorts. ;-)

Pepto Bismol Safe for Your Dog, DEADLY for Your Cat

Posted by Admin :: Dec 27'th

NEVER give Pepto Bismol to your cat (generic name Bismuth Subsalicylate). I am a big fan of Pepto-Bismol for humans and dogs, but the ingredients in Bismuth Subsalicylate can kill your cat. PetEducation.com says “Bismuth subsalicylate should NOT be given to cats except under direct supervision by your veterinarian. ” So never EVER use it to treat your cat on your own.

I think that Pepto is one of the best OTC products available, and it has been very helpful for me, as well as my dog. So don’t worry about using it for yourself, just never administer it to your cat.

Do Fungus and Yeast cause Cancer?

Posted by Admin :: Dec 1'st

I have a TON of sites that I want to comment on, but absolutely no time. Therefore, I’m just going to post a short link to this site that states there is a link between yeast and cancer and encourage everyone to read it for themselves.

Sorry for the sloppy blogging.

Super Easy and Healthy Fudge Recipe

Posted by Admin :: Nov 6'th

I got this in my inbox earlier today, from Dr. Ben Kim’s site. He has lots of good information, and even has treats like this too. If you’re planning on making fudge for Christmas, you might want to give his recipe a try. It sounds really good.

Plus, if you go read the recipe, he also has a link to a great page that talks about blood sugar, insulin and sugar-regulating mechanisms. Make sure to read it and remember the information before you indulge in holiday treats. Personally, I think we all need to learn how to enjoy celebrations and occasions without making them centered around food that can have long term consequences on our health. For example, my family and I probably aren’t going to have a big Thanksgiving feast this year. We’ll have a nice meal, but I don’t think we’ll be chowing down and eating to excess, like I have done in the past.
